Last Wednesday, Duke University students burned benches as part of a ritual they do every time the men's basketball team beats the University of North Carolina at home. The long time rivalry between these two schools saw a historic game unfold on Feb 9, as Duke was down by 14 points at half time and came back to win 79-73.

The rivalry got a little heated right before the game as UNC chancellor Holden Thorp tweeted, "Our students are talking about the future and asking smart questions instead of wasting time sitting in a tent."

In the end though, the benches burned. North Carolina played quite the first half that night, leaving Duke fans visibly depressed across campus, only to have their spirits soar as the Blue Devils charged back for the win. Both schools now look to March 5, when Duke will have to travel to play UNC in the Dean Dome. And the battle for tobacco road will continue.
