As a stay-at-home/work-at-home/homeschooling mom, I have one uniform: yoga pants, a comfortable shirt and a ponytail. Actually, when I talk to other moms, this seems to be a pretty typical mom uniform -- no matter if you stay at home, work at home or work outside of the home. It's easy and comfortable as we run around throughout the day (or cart kids around after we change out of our business suit).
Many people make fun of the momiform (see what I did right there?). You always hear people poking fun at our yoga pants or making comments about our ponytails. Even my 6- year-old makes comments about my ever-present ponytail. "Mommy, I really love your hair down," she says several times a week as I pull my hair into a pony and then suffer ongoing mom guilt at the thought that not only am I not a good enough mom, but I can't even look like a good mom.
So, I started thinking. I mean, it's almost like people think we moms just hang out in our yoga pants and ponytails because we're too lazy to get ourselves together. This couldn't be further from the truth. So, I decided to set the record straight -- you know, reveal the real reason moms always look like sh*t.
