WHAT'S HAPPENING
It irks me when people look at what I do as some great and mystical thing, when in reality, I just buy a plane ticket, pack a bag (that, more often than not, ends up being too full of clothes that I never wear), and work out the details on the way.
Who do cities and towns exist for? Is it the people who live there or those who come to visit? Over the last few years this has been a central question in two very different locales for at least some of the residents in both Jackson, WY and New York City, NY.
Crossing Delancey, I found myself eventually on Canal Street where I was lucky to see the Feminist Art Show before it closed.
After spending a long weekend on your little island, yes, I saw people living on the street, smelled garbage and came across a few individuals telling the masses why we were going to go to hell. But it was not enough to ruin your reputation.
They may have different names and hail from different places but, odds are, these classic tourist types will be there whether you're in front of the Eiffel Tower or gazing up at the Sphinx.
