Head Boys Basketball Coach, Saunders High School - Yonkers, NY

Anthony Nicodemo is currently the head boys basketball coach at Saunders High School in Yonkers, NY. He garnered national attrition in June 2013 when he came out as a gay high school basketball coach, one of the only in the country. His story was shared on Outsports, Good morning America, The New York Times and many other national media outlets. Since coming out Nicodemo as been involved with a multitude of LGBT advocacy groups including; The Sports Equality Foundation, You Can Play Project, LGBT Sports Coalition and GLSEN. He currently serves on the City of Yonkers LGBT Advisory Board and blogs for Huffington Post Queer Voices. He was named LHBCA Coach of the Year in 2015, City of Yonkers Coach of the Year in 2016 and honored by Pace University for community service and advocacy in 2016. Nicodemo is a social studies teacher at REACH Academy in West Harrison, NY.
