Bob Seay

Bob Seay is a teacher, writer, musician, and activist with over 25 years of experience advocating for students, parents, and families. Bob was born in Dallas, Texas in 1961. His family moved several times while he was growing up. By the time he graduated from high school, he had lived in 10 different towns in Texas, Arkansas, and Tennessee. As someone who grew up in the South during the 1960s and 70’s, Bob has seen the effects of prejudice, poverty, and income inequality. Bob earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Memphis in 1984. After a year of teaching in Memphis, he moved to Colorado to be near his grandparents. He accepted the K-12 music teacher position in Eads, Colorado in 1986. Between 1993 and 1999, Bob taught at Plainview Schools in Sheridan Lake. He accepted his current position as Director of Bands and Choirs at Lamar High School in 2007. He has also taught classes at Lamar Community College. Bob served on the Board of Directors for the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association between 1999 and 2003. He served as the building representative for Lamar High School’s chapter of the National Education Association between 2012-2015. His writing has been published on About.com, HuffingtonPost, ADDitude Magazine, and in textbooks. Bob has been a strong advocate for education, mental health, and equal opportunities for all people. He believes that all people deserve to have the same opportunities, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or other differences. Bob loves the beauty of the state that has become his home and is committed to preserving and protecting the environment. Bob lives in Lamar, CO with his wife Ginger. He has three sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and two very handsome grandsons, ages 3 and 1.
