Born and raised in Naples, Italy, Carlo De Rosa moved to the French speaking part of Switzerland. At 18, he enrolled at Eckerd College, a liberal arts university in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he studied psychodrama and perfected his storytelling skills in more than 30 college theatre productions.
During his last year of theatre studies, he shifted into filmmaking by directing and producing the comedy HIGH SPIRITS, his first short film, which he adapted from a one-act play he found during a workshop at WordBRIDGE, the national playwrights lab. Additionally, he found an intern position on Warner Brothers' THE NEGOTIATOR starring Samuel Jackson and Kevin Spacey.
After graduation, he returned to Switzerland, where he wrote and directed his 2nd short, dark comedy KILLING TIME. The short became a hit, winning several awards at different film festivals and secured international distribution. Due to the short’s success, he was a finalist at the Million Dollar Film Festival sponsored by Universal Pictures.
His last short, LARSEN, has been selected in more than 60 festivals, winning international awards and selling to TV broadcasters around the world.
He is premiering his feature debut FINDING JOY, which opens in US theatres in conjunction with Warner Brothers Digital distribution June 2013. He continues to write, direct and produce short films.
