Dr. Rachel Kleinfeld

President and CEO, Truman National Security Project

Dr. Rachel Kleinfeld is the founding CEO and president of the Truman National Security Project. Dr. Kleinfeld works on a broad range of foreign policy issues, from bioterrorism to energy security. She has consulted for the World Bank, OECD, EU, and multiple private organizations on building the rule of law, and has written multiple articles and book chapters on the topic; work that she continues as a non-resident associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Dr. Kleinfeld serves as a founding member of the State Department’s Foreign Affairs Policy Board, which provides the Secretary and other senior State Department officials with foreign policy guidance; she has also served on the Rhodes Selection Committee, and as a Board Member of the Blue Fund. Dr. Kleinfeld is the author of Let There Be Light and Advancing the Rule of Law Abroad. She received her D. Phil and M. Phil from Oxford University, which she attended as a Rhodes Scholar, and holds a B.A. from Yale University.
