John Jones, R.Ph., J.D.

John Jones, R.Ph., J.D., is both a licensed pharmacist and attorney in California and has more than 35 years of experience in the pharmacy practice. He is the senior vice president of Professional Practice and Pharmacy Policy for OptumRx. He also teaches law and ethics at the University of California San Diego, School of Pharmacy. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for URAC and as Chair of the Pharmacy is Right for Me Advisory Board.

Mr. Jones is an active member of numerous state and national pharmacy and law professional organizations, including the California State Board of Pharmacy, and is the treasurer of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Idaho State University and earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of San Francisco. Mr. Jones previously served as the director of Pharmacy for Blue Shield of California and held multiple positions at the University of California San Francisco, including director of home infusion therapy.
