Martel is an LGBT youth advocate and currently the Youth Development Coordinator for the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Transitional Living Program. He ensures that the needs of up to 25 clients are met through food, toiletries and other basic needs. He also helps facilitate groups and outings to practice independent living and professional and empowerment skills. He previously served as the president of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Alliance at the California State University at Northridge.
