Philip Hunt, Athletic Administration and Consulting

Philip brings the same drive, leadership and passion for helping others navigate through the world of athletics administration as he had while being a collegiate student athlete. Philip currently serves as the athletic director at an independent school in San Diego, California.

He has worked in education administration in a variety of roles. Most recently with George Mason University, he assisted the institution in areas involving NCAA certification, student privacy, veterans' benefits, fundraising, enrollment management and diversity.

While at the NCAA, Philip served as a liaison to various committees and provided assistance to institutions, private consultants as well as the public on NCAA rules compliance and governance.

Philip has also been very influential in providing guidance and advice to families, high schools and various sports organizations on navigating NCAA rules and the recruiting process.

Prior to the NCAA Philip was an Assistant Athletics Director at the University of Connecticut where he oversaw the daily operations of the athletics department and provided support for athletics teams. He also clerked for the Connecticut Attorney General focusing on legal matters in higher education.

Philip recieved a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. He earned a master’s degree in sport management and a bachelor’s in education from the University of Connecticut where he was a co-captain and four year varsity letter winner in the sport of football.
