Roman Coley Davis is a disabled combat veteran, who medically retired from the Army following a lengthy deployment to Afghanistan, where he served as a Human Intelligence Collector/Interrogator and Linguist, in the Korangal Valley, made infamous by the National Geographic documentary “Restrepo,” and the award-winning sequel, “Korengal.” After his retirement from the Army, Roman followed another passion by graduating from Le Cordon Bleu. Chef Roman currently teaches in Bentonville, Arkansas at Brightwater: A Center for the Study of Food, and serves as a Chef Advocate and Social Activist for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, whose goal is to end child hunger in America. Continuing his service to our nation, Roman is a tireless advocate for disabled combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, through his support of and advocacy for the U.S. Special Forces Association, The Fisher House, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Roman is a proud, active member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), The James Beard Foundation, Disabled American Veterans, the Wounded Warrior Project, and several other nonprofit organizations. In his private time, Roman can be found traveling the country, eating, fishing, and writing about the shenanigans of his life…all whilst playing fetch with a 14 year old Yellow Lab named Butters.
