Bill Brady Barely Ahead In Illinois Republican Governor's Primary

Still only separated by a few hundred votes, Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard made friendly during a Republican Unity Breakfast Wednesday morning, and while neither gubernatorial candidate from the GOP showed signs of defeat both seemed more than happy as their colleagues launched a full-scale attack against Democratic Senate primary winner Alexi Giannoulias.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Sun-Times reported the "anything can happen" scenario was still in place for Dillard and Brady:

Brady says he's 700 votes ahead. Dillard says he's only 100 votes behind. The Associated Press reports Brady 750 votes ahead with 99 percent of the state's precincts reporting.

With the final margin of victory likely in the tenths of a percent, there isn't likely to be a certified victor for some time. But Republicans are in no rush; the Democrats haven't sorted out their gubernatorial candidate yet, either.
