Burning Man Theme Camps Are About Building Community, 'Duck Pond' Co-Founder Says

From Monday until September 2, a patch of Nevada desert becomes Black Rock City, the site of the annual Burning Man festival.

The festival brings people together from all over the world to form a temporary community, where they live, build and work under their own unique economy. "Theme camps" are one part of that experience, offering attendees a special opportunity or activity to come together for a common theme.

John Clarke Mills has been attending Burning Man for eight years. On HuffPost Live Friday, he described his experience there and his work co-founding a theme camp called " target="_hplink">"Duck Pond."

According to the Duck Pond website, the theme park is a "daytime dance party" that features a 150-foot slip-n-slide and and nighttime dive bar. Mill told HuffPost Live's Alyona Minkovski that the core value of Burning Man and Duck Pond is building community.
