On the eve of the release of her new book, Republican Christine O'Donnell, who made an unsuccessful run for U.S. Senate in Delaware during the 2010 election season, sat down for an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Monday night.
Among the subjects discussed by O'Donnell on the network was a now-infamous campaign ad released by her political operation last year in which she says, "I'm not a witch, I'm nothing you've heard. I'm you."
The Tea Party favorite suggested that she was under the impression the thirty-second spot was never supposed to run.
"I hated the ad, I never liked it," she said. "That is my mistake."
The AP reported last week that O'Donnell addresses the ad in her book, Troublemaker: Let's Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again, which is due out on Tuesday.
The Delaware Republican uses the book to address what she calls "my lowest moment of the 2010 campaign" – a commercial in which she assured voters, "I am not a witch."
She says she never wanted to make the ad -- which was prompted by questions about a statement she had made on a late-night talk show years earlier – and was surprised when it showed up on the Internet. She blames an insistent media consultant but also her own inability to put her foot down.
"It was a wrong-headed move, made for all the wrong reasons, but it was mine," she writes in her book, according to the AP.
O'Donnell, whose candidacy proved contentious within the Republican party last year, said on Monday night that "more troublemakers need to step up to the plate."
