NEW YORK -- CQ Roll Call has laid off two veteran reporters, White House Correspondent Steven Dennis and Congressional Editor/Reporter David Eldridge, The Huffington Post has learned.
Dennis, who joined Roll Call in 2007, covered Congress for four years before becoming White House correspondent. Eldridge has reported in Washington since the late 1990s, joining Roll Call as House editor in 2014. Both last published stories on Sunday.
Several dozen staffers were laid off when Roll Call merged with CQ in 2009, and there have been additional rounds of cuts in the years since. It was not immediately clear Monday if the departures were part of a broader restructuring.
A CQ Roll Call spokeswoman declined to comment. Dennis and Eldridge declined to comment.
Roll Call has remained in a state of flux since its editor-in-chief, Christina Bellantoni, left for the Los Angeles Times in August. Jason Dick is currently serving as interim editor.
The company announced Monday that Matt Mansfield, who had been consulting for CQ Roll Call, would become the news organization's first vice president for product innovation.
