Do we have some cuties for you this week!

This week's adorable adoptable animals includes a parrot who neighs like a horse. We've also got puppies, special-needs cats, a hamster, guinea pigs, bunnies -- all-in-all, almost 40 lovable pets looking for homes.

You can also meet your new friend at one of the great adoption programs happening in the coming weeks.

The Washington Humane Society is holding a St. Catrick's Day celebration from March 16-18 -- older cats and cats with special needs will be available for a reduced adoption fee of $17. Wear green and meet cats at WHS's adoption centers, at 7319 Georgia Ave. NW and 1201 New York Ave. NE.

The Washington Animal Rescue League is holding a Mega Match-A-Thon on March 31 and April 1. Dogs and cats galore from seven area shelters will be available for adoption at this event, being held at WARL (71 Oglethorpe St. NW). The video for the event is below the slideshow.

We love hearing about your pets! Send pictures of your animals to arin.greenwood@huffingtonpost.com. We are always happy to hear from D.C.-area rescue groups, as well.

Howdy, partner! Meet Bronco, a 5-month-old pit bull mix. This little guy is fun loving and full of life. Bronco arrived at the Washington Animal Rescue League with an advanced case of demodectic mange, which can be triggered in puppies by stress or poor nutrition. But you'd never know that this happy-go-lucky boy had ever had a stressful day in his life. He's regaining his handsome red coat and is full of energy and enthusiasm. Bronco would love to live with an active family, with or without another canine for company.Want to know more about Bronco? Get in touch with the Washington Animal Rescue League. (credit:WARL)
Azul(03 of38)
Open Image Modal
Azul was recently the mom of 5 healthy and beautiful kittens. Four of the kittens have found their new families and we're sure the last one, Reeghan, an all black little girl will be snatched up quickly too. Azul is a very sweet and playful young woman who's probably not even a year old herself. She was a stray rescued by a young couple who wanted to keep her after her babies were weaned but their landlord told them they wouldn't be able to. Visit www.tailshigh.org if you would like to find out more about Azul. (credit:Tails High)
Henry(04 of38)
Open Image Modal
Henry is a Shiba Inu Jack Russell mix, about a year old, really smart and athletic. He would be a very fun dog for an experienced owner -- he is ok with some dogs; AWLA likes to say he's selective in choosing his friends. Henry would be a really great fit for someone training for a marathon or triathlon or even someone interested in advanced training like agility or fly ball. He's truly a talented dog and is waiting for the right adopter that can take full advantage of his abilities.Find out more about this athlete of a pup from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Gabrielle(05 of38)
Open Image Modal
Are you looking for a gentle, loving canine couch potato who would like nothing more than to hang out on the sofa with you and watch the soaps or American Idol? Then look no further than Gabrielle. It's easy to tell that this precious, medium-sized, muppet-lookalike was once someone's pampered pet. How she ended up in the shelter system, we'll never know, but at 13 years old, this golden girl deserves better: good food, a comfortable bed, and days filled with quiet companionship. Although her eyes and her ears aren't what they used to be, her soul is as sweet as ever. So if you have space in your heart and your home, consider making Gabrielle part of your life. (And if you're over 65, the adoption fee will be waived as part of the Washington Animal Rescue League's Seniors for Seniors program.) He is looking for his forever home and gets along well with other cats! Visit www.tailshigh.org if you would like to meet Mono. (credit:Tails High)

Alfie(08 of38)

Alfie is a puppy in a bunny costume, says The Animal Welfare League of Arlington. He's a highly social, friendly bunny who would do well in a variety of homes. He was surrendered to the AWLA as a baby, then adopted and recently returned because he is chewer. Chewing is a natural bunny behavior that adopters should be aware of prior to bringing them home, his ideal adopter would have a bunny proof room and perhaps other bunny playmates to keep him busy!Find out more about this bunny from The Animal Welfare League of Arlington. Pimento(12 of38)
Open Image Modal
Pimento is what you'd call the life of the party! He has boundless energy and loves to run and jump whenever he's given the opportunity, perhaps because he has lived in a shelter situation since last June following his removal from the neglectful care of a so-called breeder. Unlike the Energizer bunny, however, this 1-year-old miniature poodle will settle down for an affectionate kiss and a cuddle. Because of his size, energy level, background, and tendency to be "mouthy," Pimento needs to go to an adults-only home with another dog.Find out more about this lively guy from the Washington Animal Rescue League.
