Dissent Democrat Wheels And Deals In Albany

The New York State Senate delayed legislative action on Wednesday when Sen. Hiram Monserrate of Jackson Heights asked for a postponement. Monserrate, one of two Democrats that helped the Republicans regain majority of the Senate, wanted an extra day to convince more Democrats to join their coalition before voting on 33 new bills. According to the temporary Senate President, Pedro Espada Jr., other Democratic Senators "want to come on board."
