Fashionistas And Fundrace!

Fashionistas And Fundrace!

It seems as though the flocks of the fabulous have something other than fiscal policy on their minds as searching for political donations from fashionistas in the 4th quarter produced scant results. We guess they had other things on their minds, like Fashion Week perhaps?

That's not to say we didn't find a couple of interesting tidbits though. While Anna Wintour, Editrix Extraordinare of Vogue may have had strong words for Hillary, we didn't come across any donations to Senator Clinton's head rival, Senator Obama. Ditto for the EIC of our fave, Harper's Bazaar, Glenda Bailey.

Designers also kept giving to a minimum this quarter . $34,435 was given by people who identified their occupation as "fashion designer" with a measly $3,350 going to Republicans and $31,085 to Democrats. Though Project Runway's favorite jeans-and-a-suit-jacket hunk, Michael Kors, did toss $250 to Joseph Biden. Who? Yeah, we've forgotten about him, too. Adam Lippes was a lot more generous, giving $4,600 to Senator Clinton. Ah, models. Seems they set aside the champagne and Marlboros to write some checks. $52,227 was given by people who identified their occupation as "models," with only $11,700 going to Republicans and $40,527 to Democrats. Seems the first generation of Supermodels have been stepping it up for Hillary: All-American girl Christie Brinkley has given to Clinton more than once, racking up a total of $4,250 in contributions. Former Mrs. Mick Jagger Jerry Hall gave $2,300 to Clinton. Cheryl Tieg, on the other hand, donated $500 to Obama in the fourth.

But it wasn't just the spotlight-hogging hordes of It people who gave. $5,714 was given by people who listed their job as "tailor" $2,200 to Republicans $3,514 to Democrats. Besides that, $6,807 was given by seamstresses, $2,300 to Republicans and $4,507 to Democrats.

Stylists were also skimpy with their giving (checkbook couldn't slip into their slim-fits, perhaps?). $9,273 was given by stylists, $1,203 to Republicans and $8,070 to Democrats.

Maybe everyone's been too busy working on the Fall 2008 collections. Let's hope Fashion Week compensates for such a paltry 4th Quarter showing!
