Jim Haught is 51 years old, and he has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. Jim's regular job of painting houses, along with his artistic projects, had to be put on hold for several years as he became the caregiver for his parents. Now that that chapter of life has come to its inevitable end, Jim is back at work and hopes to complete several series of paintings that have been fermenting for a long while.

This is a painting I did a few years ago between painting houses for a living. I titled it "The Trap of Nostalgia." It is an oil painting measuring 52" x 66". It represents people I know who constantly live in the past without enjoying and observing all that is around them in the here and now. This painting is based on something my mother used to say: "It's nice to reminisce once in a while, but some people get stuck in the past and never leave."
