Our team is thrilled to embark upon the challenge of "walking the walk" so to speak as it relates to the role that we're playing in bringing about transformational change to the communities that so many members of our team are blessed to call "home." In the wake of the seemingly never-ending atrocities occurring in predominately Black communities around the nation, Civil Rights leaders, celebrities, and communities-at-large have launched the #BlackLivesMatter campaign aimed at bringing about social change to our great nation that will ensure that Black citizens will be protected from crimes committed against them by the very group of civil servants paid to protect and serve our communities.
We believe that we too can play a critical role in ensuring that #BlackLivesMatter by leading the charge as the only Black-owned and operated certified MBE management consulting firm with a dedicated line of business solely focused on the successful transformation and turnaround of our nation's struggling Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Our mission is to build a better world through education and social change, and we believe that we must first start at home in order to truly impact the world around us. HBCU's are a staple in the Black community and have educated thousands of our nation's most successful Black leaders across all industries including medicine, manufacturing, law, entertainment, education, the Arts, and a host of others.
HBCUs exist to provide opportunities to those that may have not been afforded access to higher education due to a number of extenuating circumstances. However, recent legislative funding regulations have significantly hindered a number of HBCUs from accomplishing their mission because it holds them to performance standards that don't take into consideration the diversity of the population that HBCUs serve.
Black students from around the nation who have been admitted to prestigious universities like Stanford and Harvard instead choose to attend schools like Morehouse and Florida A&M University in order to be exposed to the rich cultural experiences that only exist at HBCUs. In addition to the students admitted to highly selective institutions, HBCUs also enroll a significant number of students who may not have the financial means or academic test scores to be considered for a highly selective institution, but if not for HBCUs the alternative would be a much bleaker outcome.
According to a recent article in the Washington Post, Black colleges are the biggest victims of states' invasive new funding rules. With that said, we have made it our organizational priority to combat these funding challenges by equipping our beloved HBCUs with the Operational and Business acumen necessary to effectively manage their institutions, significantly enhance their enrollment and remove all Non-Academic responsibilities that interfere with teaching and learning from their Academic team's roles and responsibilities.
We believe that the Operational Management of our HBCUs is the key lever to ensuring their sustainability and we specialize in building the internal Operations Capacity of our HBCU partners. Our team proudly partners with a number of storied HBCUs with rich cultural histories dating back to the 19th Century including universities like Grambling State University as well as the University of the District of Columbia. As dedicated alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, we are personally and professionally committed to their long-term sustainability so that generations to come can benefit from the phenomenal legacy left by those before us because #BlackLivesMatter.
