Homeless Man Hotel-Hops With Frequent Flyer Miles

A former corporate development manager in the software industry has been forced to come up with increasingly inventive ways to survive during the recession. After being laid off in 2008, Jim, who does not want his full name revealed, hasn't been able to find work. Eventually, his savings ran out and he lost his home.

As he continues to search for employment, Jim is using a unique tactic to put a roof over his head. Using the frequent flyer miles that he accumulated while traveling for his job, he moves from hotel to hotel, strategically transferring the miles to hotel points and making them last as long as possible. Jim estimates he has about two months to go before his points run out. He is chronicling his struggles on Twitter in hopes of being noticed by a potential employer.

CNN profiled Jim on Tuesday, March 23.
