The only thing more colorful than the red carpet at this year's Golden Globe Awards was Jacqueline Bisset's acceptance speech. Bisset, who won Best Supporting Actress In A Series, Miniseries, Or TV Movie for her role in "Dancing On The Edge," responded with humor and humility when HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asked her about the uncustomary speech.
"I don't think I've ever gone viral before," she joked.
Modarressy-Tehran brought up a particular moment in Bisset's speech that resonates with Third Metrics themes like compassion and mindfulness. While accepting her award, Bisset said:
“I want to thank the people who have given me joy, and there have been many. And to the people who have given me shit, I say, like my mother, what did she say? — she said, ‘Go to hell, and don’t come back.’ However, however, however, my mother was not entirely me. I believe, if you want to look good, you’ve got to forgive everybody. You have to forgive everybody — it’s the best beauty treatment. Forgiveness for yourself, and for the others.”
Bisset admitted that she did not prepare a speech beforehand because she didn't believe she would win. The response, which she described as "very mixed," elicited a largely cruel response. "Being bonkers. Being erratic. Rambling speech. Crazy, drunk, drugged - everything!" Bisset said of the accusations she's heard. "The internet brings all kinds of remarks in."
"I admit to rambling, but my heart was just overwhelmed," she shared. "I'm generally rather in control. I sort of believe in trying to hold my emotions together. And it just went up the creek. I just got like five ideas in my head that I wanted to say at the same time."
