Vice President JD Vance is facing heat on Thursday after making a joke about former President Joe Biden dying, and then laughing at it.
The moment came during a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, who asked if he is ready to take over should something happen to President Donald Trump.
Vance said he tries not to think about it since Trump is “very healthy.”
“But if I served under Joe Biden, I’d probably be worried every minute of every day that he was going to croak and that I’d have to become president,” Vance said, then laughed as Hannity joined in. “Like I’d never be able to sleep. I’d always have my cellphone as loud as possible.”
Vance said Trump has “a lot of energy” and repeated that he’s “extremely healthy.”
The comments come as Trump is facing growing questions about his health, especially after he had an MRI test during a hastily announced visit to Walter Reed Medical Center last month ― his second “yearly” checkup in six months.
Trump said he got a clean bill of health.
Trump has been seen with bruising on his hand, which he covers up with concealer, and swollen ankles. The White House stated that the bruising is a result of shaking hands and the use of aspirin, while the swollen feet and ankles are attributed to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition characterized by poor blood flow from the legs back to the heart.
Trump has also been seen seemingly struggling to stay awake at daytime events, and several Democratic leaders have accused him of having dementia.
Vance’s critics fired back on social media:
