'Wait A Minute...': JD Vance Mocked For Making A Mess Of Donald Trump’s Favorite Brag

Critics quickly pointed out a disconnect.

Critics highlighted an awkward moment in JD Vance’s Fox News interview with Sean Hannity on Thursday, where the vice president appeared to contradict President Donald Trump’s repeated boasts about the economy.

Hannity asked Vance about when Americans will “really see the engine of the economy start to take off.”

“Well, some of it has already started, Sean,” Vance replied.

“But some of it is going to take a long time,” he then admitted, disingenuously claiming that Trump had in his second term “inherited a disaster.”

HANNITY: When do we really see the engine of the economy start to take off?

Critics quickly pointed out the disconnect that Trump has been back in office for almost a year, routinely claims the economy is popping, and had vowed on the campaign trail that on “day one” he would “make America affordable again.”

What he meant to say is they created a disaster. https://t.co/BsaPnLBdb0

Umm, wasn’t the economy already supposed to be taking off on “Day One”? https://t.co/ds1zlH7VkO pic.twitter.com/pwTy6hBIPq

Meanwhile Trump is saying its never been hotter https://t.co/WzC00zTV6K

That’s become their go-to explanation. “We have great policies, but it’s going to take forever because we inherited a disaster!” Um, they do know we were here during the Biden Presidency don’t they? All the infrastructure projects, Covid controlled, NO FUCKING CHAOS!😘 https://t.co/Mb2rifGR92

Do you remember when it was all supposed to be day 1, everything and the world and more, and they fell for it.

So "Day One" has become "A Long Time."

— Dave (@DaveStrong11) November 14, 2025

lol they inherited a booming economy, but this line will work on MAGA I’m sure

This wrecking ball of a president and administration inherited a smooth, in-progress recovering economy from trump's disastrous first term. Each new Dem president ALWAYS has to clean up the economy from a Repub president's term.

Ohhhhh…now we gotta wait…

I recall “day one” FUCKING EVERYTHING!! https://t.co/7xbleTxB3P

Wait a minute

I thought we were in the middle of the Golden Age and had the best economy ever 🤷🏻♀️

And now JD says it’s going to take a long time for the recovery to happen.

Which is it 😀 https://t.co/2tbH4tud9X

Twenty years from now, a MAGA is asked "When is the economy going to start to take off?"

MAGA rep: Well, it's still Biden's economy! https://t.co/tljyEuPZ2f

JD VANCE: Some of it is going to take a long time because we inherited a disaster

DONALD TRUMP: We have the greatest economy right now

(Sounds like one more area this Administration needs to get its stories straight) https://t.co/g2RvnBcWre

Crying, they just say “a while” because it’s so vague. It was a while when they first got in, now shits worse than before and we’re near year 1. https://t.co/DpsEHMHYIP
