Former Vice President Kamala Harris described the “complicated” relationship she has with her former boss during an interview on the “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, published on Thursday.

“I have a great deal of affection for him, and there were times that I’ve been quite candid about where he greatly disappointed me, and frankly, you know, angered me,” Harris said of former President Joe Biden.

As one example of this dynamic, Harris pointed to a call with Biden prior to a high-stakes debate she was doing against now-President Donald Trump.

In that call, in addition to wishing her well, Biden allegedly told Harris there was “a group of people in Pennsylvania who were saying bad things about me because they heard I was saying bad things about him.”

“I was angry and deeply disappointed. It just was so unnecessary,” Harris said of the message, which she found to be self-serving and not the pep talk she was anticipating.

“My takeaway is his motivation was all about himself,” Harris said. “It wasn’t about my performance at the debate.”

Though Harris answered “yes” when asked if their relationship was complicated, she also acknowledged “it’s a good relationship.”

Harris said that she and Biden remain friends, and noted he had just called her two days prior to the podcast taping for her birthday.

Her revelations add to candid comments she’s made about her 2024 presidential campaign and her ties with different political leaders as she promotes her book, “107 Days.”
