Everyone knows sex sells. And when Oregon used-car salesman Kim Ridley, 60, wanted to sell his 1977 Datsun 280Z on eBay, he used images of a hot young woman to do it. But, in this case, the scantily-clad lady in the photos was Ridley's own daughter, according to media reports.
"Girls and dogs attract people's attention," Ridley told AdWeek.
Fair point, Mr. Ridley, but the move has raised some eyebrows. In one photo, prospective buyers have to look beyond 20-year-old Lexxa Ridley's butt cheeks to get a glimpse of the bright yellow vehicle. In another, they get to see her leaning seductively on the car, a lacy bra exposed. In some photos, Lexxa is wearing torn jeans; in others, she's wearing no jeans at all.
One eBay user posted on the ad, "Does buying the car include a free ride with the porn star?", to which Ridley responded: "Nice way to talk about my daughter!!!! But sure----------!!!! Hit the buy it now!!
Despite Ridley's best efforts to pimp out his daughter, the Datsun only got five bids, with the winning one coming in at $7,500.
Maybe people were so busy looking at the photos they forgot to pay any attention to the car. The complete ad is as follows:

Ridley, who runs Ridley's Rides in Eugene, Oregon, said if he had felt bad about using his daughter, he wouldn't have done it.
Of course, sex in advertising is so prevalent these days that people rarely bat an eye about it. This year's Super Bowl commercials included John Stamos sensually teasing a pretty woman by not giving her a spoonful of Oikos Greek Yogurt.
