Ray LaHood Honks At Distracted D.C. Drivers

WASHINGTON -- It's no secret that U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood dislikes distracted driving.

"I don’t want people talking on phones, having them up to their ear or texting while they’re driving," he said in an interview with Bloomberg in 2010.

And while LaHood has signaled he won't support an outright federal ban on all cellphone use -- including hands-free devices -- for motorists, he's still majorly miffed when he sees distracted driving in and around the nation's capital.

LaHood tells WTOP that when he's out and about on weekends, his "biggest source of irritation" come from drivers who are talking on their cellphones while driving.

He'll even honk at them, according to the radio station. It's his way of "taking personal responsibility."
