Matt Lauer, the "Today" show's co-host since 1997, will team with Bob Costas to anchor the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics from Beijing on Aug. 8, NBC is scheduled to announce on Monday. The prime time program, which includes the parade of nations, will occur in the morning in Beijing and be broadcast by NBC on tape.
Mr. Lauer essentially replaces Brian Williams, anchor of the "NBC Nightly News," who worked with Mr. Costas at the 2006 Winter Games opening ceremony in Turin, Italy.
