Michele Bachmann Raises Record $5.4 Million In Three Months

HUGE HAUL: Michele Bachmann's Staggering Fundraising Efforts

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) will not close out her reelection bid empty-handed. The high-profile congresswoman will report raising a staggering $5.4 million during the last quarter, according to NBC affiliate KARE.

The Star Tribune calls the total "unprecedented," noting that the three-month haul is greater than any Minnesota congressional hopeful has ever raised in an entire election cycle. The total vastly exceeds the $3.5 million she took in while running for reelection in 2008.

Bachmann is not the only prominent Republican to boast an impressive fundraising effort in recent days. Sen. Harry Reid's challenger in Nevada, Sharron Angle, announced this week that she raised more than $14 million during the last quarter.

Bachmann has been unafraid to attack fellow Republicans during her campaign this year. In late September she unveiled an ad that threw former President George W. Bush under the bus.

A SurveyUSA poll conducted in September estimated that Bachmann leads her challenger, state senator Tarryl Clark, by nine points.
