Tonight, we are Young.

No one's probably more stumped than Jimmy Fallon at how Neil Young keeps agreeing to come on "The Tonight Show," so this latest segment makes perfect sense.

In a "Tonight Show" return, Neil Young joined Fallon (also dressed up as Young) to sing a new song called "Two Neil Youngs on a Tree Stump."

Reader: "What's it about?"

Uh ... it's about two Neil Youngs on a tree stump.

Reader: "But ... why?"

Who the heck knows?

Perhaps after "Two James Taylors on a Seesaw," Fallon has gone mad with power, making singers just sit on random objects and perform. All we know is that we've wasted too many years searching for a heart of gold. Who needs that nonsense when you have two Neil Youngs ... and a tree stump?

"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
