We are one supreme court judge away from forcing women in similar circumstances to go through the same ordeal my wife went through over 30 years ago."
Strong and real words born from real experience. Everyone in the room took a breath.
It is hard to understand why women, (and in truth, the men who love them), would support any other candidate. Barack Obama does not promote abortion. He promotes abstinence, birth control, education and prevention. He however supports the right to choose. He does not see abortion as a form of birth control. He sees it as a last resort. If you -- the women of America who right this moment are leaning towards the McCain/Palin ticket because of their stance on this issue -- could find some ability to recognize that very few people who support a woman's right to choose support abortion as birth control, we could talk about other things. Like Healthcare. Pay Equity. Childcare. Taxes.
We could allow families across America the right to make their own decisions. We could honor that privacy. We could talk about other things. Like the Environment, the Iraq War. The Economy.
But see that's where we have a problem. The McCain/Palin ticket doesn't want you to look too closely at those issues because they know that if you look too closely at those issues -- the ones that directly affect your life -- you will realize that, actually, you would be better off with Obama/Biden. Deflect. And blame. Classic.
The McCain/Palin ticket (and the Republican Party), doesn't want you to talk about other things.
