'Girl-On-Girl' Movies, Sexual Molestation Might Have Caused Young Woman To Be Gay, Pat Robertson Claims

Young Woman May Be Gay Due To 'Girl-On-Girl' Movies Or Sexual Molestation, Pat Robertson Claims

Conservative U.S. evangelist Pat Robertson claimed that sexual abuse or an influx of "girl-on-girl" movies in Hollywood may be causing a 21-year-old woman to be attracted to other women.

As Right Wing Watch first reported, Robertson was responding to a mother who wrote in, concerned over the fact that her "very feminine" daughter is now in a lesbian relationship.

"I think she needs somebody to help her get her identity straight," Robertson told the woman. "The whole question of sexuality identity has gotten so blurred in the press these days it's hard to know ... but why is she that way? Was she molested when she was younger?"

Robertson then said he believed that the presence of gay and lesbian characters in Hollywood movies and television could be influencing the daughter's feelings.

The comments aren't particularly surprising given Robertson's history. Last month, the evangelist, who was named "Bigot of the Year" at Britain's Stonewall Awards last year, advised another "700 Club" viewer to find her 13-year-old stepson, who admitted to having crushes on other boys, some male companions, as “his attraction is now toward other men because he’s raised by a woman,” Right Wing Watch first reported.

Last year, he told another parent that her 16-year-old son, who had recently come out as gay, may have been molested.

Is there a biological thing going on or has he been influenced — has a coach molested him?” Robertson asked the viewer. Of the LGBT youth community as a whole, he noted: “They don’t know what they’re doing, they’re teenagers."
