According to a number of polls, the vast majority of Americans care little about the Royal Wedding.
A poll by the New York Times/CBS News found that only 6 percent of Americans have been following news about the wedding very closely, with an additional 22 percent following it somewhat closely. There is a margin of error of plus-minus 3 percentage points for that poll. Likewise, 85 percent of more than 15,000 respondents to a HuffPost Facebook poll said they don't care about the royal wedding.
But Google searches suggest otherwise. In fact, "royal wedding" queries in the United States have surged past God, Barack Obama and Justin Bieber in recent days (scroll down for graphs), per Google Trends.

For those who aren't interested in the royal wedding in the United States, it's understandable, says HuffPost blogger Kelli Goff, who argues 21st century Americans don't care about royalty the way they used to.
But that hasn't stopped media coverage and social media activity from surging as the wedding nears. And a huge pickup in Google activity, seen below.
