Ahh, resolution season -- the one month of shining promise before a February of empty gyms and unanswered emails. But to make those resolutions last until at least the 31st, you're going to need a strong cup of coffee.

San Francisco has always embraced coffee culture (we were named number four on the most caffeinated cities in the country this summer), but if we were satisfied with the same old cup of coffee we drank last year, well we wouldn't be the Bay Area. (Because drip is so 2011.)

Introducing: the newest ways to get caffeinated in 2012. Oakland has condensed a gallon of coffee into a shot glass, the Mission has figured out how to mix beer and caffeine legally and Blue Bottle has officially taken over the world. (And how!)

Check out the newest ways to get buzzed in San Francisco in 2012 in our slideshow below:

The hipster science experiment that is Blue Bottle Coffee in Mint Plaza may induce an eye-roll from locals who just want their f*cking coffee. That is, until that humbling first sip when we're all reminded that our Blue Bottle is quite possibly the best cup of coffee in America. And on December 26, the company officially took over the world with the release of its bottled cold coffees. For now, it's just the sweet and creamy New Orleans coffee or the classic Kyoto (black). But if we know Blue Bottle, there will be more to come. (credit:Laughing Squid)

Yes, that's what it's actually called: the Black Blood of the Earth. And with 40 times the caffeine content of drip coffee, there is no wonder why. (There's even a "how to consume" section on the website.) Brewed in a lab in Oakland, BBoE, as it's abbreviated, is a cold vacuum extraction coffee concentrate that is, allegedly, sweet without cream and sugar and serves up a wallop of energy. Jackson Place Cafe New Orleans Iced Coffee(03 of04)

Discovering Jackson Place Café tucked between the unbelievable Starbucks army of the Financial District is like finding an oasis in a desert of bad drip. While the adorable kiosk serves primarily Blue Bottle, we go for the homemade New Orleans Iced Coffee -- a deliciously spicy-sweet treat with more caffeine than it lets on. MateVeza Yerba Mate Ale(04 of04)

Alright, so caffeinated beer may not be the most efficient tool to help get those first first quarter projections done in time, but if you're going to drink beer, may as well drink some with a kick. MateVeza -- the SF company that brews beer naturally caffeinated with Yerba Mate tea -- is opening a restaurant and brewery on Dolores Park this spring. So at least you can efficiently roll on from brunch to happy hour. (credit:Flickr: greenlagirl)
