Scarlett Johansson is weighing in on Colin Jost’s fate at “Saturday Night Live.”
The actor was asked about her husband’s job status while promoting her new film, “Eleanor the Great,” at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
“He’s going back to work,” Johansson confirmed to Entertainment Weekly in an exclusive interview on Sunday.
Jost himself has not yet weighed in on his return, or the likelihood that he’ll be back at the “Weekend Update” desk alongside his longtime co-host, Michael Che.
Jost started at “Saturday Night Live” in 2005 and served as the show’s head writer for many years. He began his stint on “Update” back in 2014.

“SNL” creator Lorne Michaels previously revealed that Season 51 of the show would come with major casting shakeups, as he told Puck last month that he felt “pressure to reinvent this season.”
Michaels added that “there couldn’t be those kind of disruptions, or anything that was going to take the focus off” Season 50 of the show, as it was both an election year and a major milestone in the show’s history.
As staff departures and firings continue to make headlines, there’s one fan favorite whose exit is up for debate.
“SNL” alum Dana Carvey recently speculated that Heidi Gardner, who has been on the show for eight years, was asked to leave.
“From what I know, as of this recording, that it was not her idea to leave,” Carvey said on the podcast that he co-hosts with fellow “SNL” alum David Spade, “Fly on the Wall.” Carvey added the caveat that he could, of course, be wrong.
