Scott Brown Aligns Himself With President Obama

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) continued his re-election strategy of positioning himself as an independent thinker and voter, going as far as to align himself with President Barack Obama on Wednesday. Speaking on "Fox 25 Morning News," Brown cited pieces of legislation that he and the president both supported.

"The president just signed into law my 3 percent withholding bill, the Hire a Hero veterans bill, the Arlington Cemetery bill," he said. "I mean I could go on and on and on."

Brown co-authored the Hire a Hero Act, which gives business tax credits for hiring unemployed veterans, and advocated for the repeal of a 3 percent withholding tax on contracts made to private companies that would have hit businesses and consumers. Both initiatives were included in the first part of Obama's jobs package to be signed into law, and Brown joined the president at the bill-signing ceremony in a show of bipartisanship. The senator also recently criticized members of his own party for rejecting the payroll tax cut extension that Democrats supported.

The lone Republican lawmaker in Massachusetts, Brown has been running to the left of late, as he faces a tough re-election contest against liberal favorite Elizabeth Warren. "I'm the most bipartisan senator in the entire delegation -- if not the most bipartisan senator in the entire senate," he told Fox 25. "And that'll be the difference if it's Prof. Warren and me."
