Tornado Watch Issued For Maryland, New Jersey Virginia And Delaware

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for portions of eastern Maryland, southern New Jersey, southeast Virginia and Delaware, effective immediately until Saturday at 8 p.m. EST.

TORNADOES...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 75 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 45 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES SOUTHWEST OF NORFOLK VIRGINIA TO 15 MILES NORTH OF ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY.

Justin Kenney, the director of communications and external affairs for NOAA, tweeted that Washington, D.C., is not currently under a tornado watch, as had been previously reported.
