'Twilight' Musical Going Off-Broadway

Twilight, The Musical

Edward and Bella are headed to the stage.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Twilight: The Musical, a parody of the popular vampire franchise, is headed for off-Broadway.

Press notes acquired by Playbill say the musical "examines our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan who risks everything when she embarks on a star-crossed romance with Vampire Edward Cullen."

Entertainment Weekly points out that some of the character names include Harry Potter and Hermione Granger which, EW speculates, could lead to "that epic vampire vs. wizard war that we all know is coming."

The cast includes Meghann Fahy (Next to Normal) as Bella Swan, and Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked) as Rosalie.

The show is, at least for now, a one night event on January 16 with proceeds going to charity.
