Detroit Mayor Dave Bing unexpectedly hinted to reporters that they would receive some big news on the future of the city's leadership from Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) on Friday.

The emergency manager rumors flew fast and furious Thursday across our local Twittersphere. And when we asked our trusty readers whom they'd nominate to lead the city, we got some unexpected requests ... and even a few conspiracy theories.

First of all, former President Bill Clinton, are you currently employed? Would you consider a humanitarian mission to the Mitten State?

Could an infamous city politician escape prison time ... and return to help raise Detroit from the ashes?

Or maybe Snyder's executive search has taken him all the way to the Vatican?

We're still watching the clock impatiently ahead of Friday's noon announcement from the governor, when he's expected to explain plans for Detroit in light of the city's financial emergency found by a state review team last week.

But why not wait in good humor? Check out the slideshow of (mostly tongue-in-cheek) emergency manager candidates we collected on Twitter, along with a few of our own dreamy guesses. And tweet us your own #dreamEM or leave your candidate in the comments.
