Riley Howell, an ROTC cadet, died after he stopped a shooter from harming more students at the University of North Carolina Charlotte last month.
Riley Howell's obituary remembers him as a hero who "died the way he lived, putting others first."
UNC-Charlotte also identified the victims of Tuesday night's shooting on campus as six students, two of whom were killed in the attack.
