I teach statistics, I study politics, and I use one to write about the other. Data helps me make sense of political behavior around the world. What opinions and beliefs do voters hold about politics? When and why does those considerations inform their political choices? As a lover of political campaigns, I am especially interested in the extent to which candidates can use mass communication to shape our judgments about politics. I am the author of Economic Voting: A Campaign-Centered Theory (Cambridge University Press, 2016). My work also appears in the Journal of Politics and Comparative Political Studies.
