Michael Piraino has been a prominent children’s advocate and nonprofit leader for over three decades. He is an attorney with a law degree from Cornell Law School and a master’s from Oxford University. His substantive areas of focus have been on child poverty, education, maltreatment, and foster care. In addition, he has expertise in nonprofit management, organizational development, strategic planning, fundraising, and ethics. As a result of his service to children, Michael Piraino has received many awards and was most recently selected by The Non Profit Times as one of the top 50 Non Profit Leaders of Power & Influence. A frequent and dynamic speaker at domestic and international symposia on children, Mr. Piraino is also a Huffington Post blogger and has appeared on national news and talk shows including The Today Show, 20/20, Fox News, Anderson Cooper 360, the Dr. Phil Show, and National Public Radio. Michael recently retired after 21 years as the CEO of the National CASA Association, which grew under his leadership to serve 250,000 children annually with a network of 75,000 volunteers. He now serves as Senior Advisor to The Justice Project, is the co-founder and Chief Reimagination Officer for Healing Learning, A Social Purpose Corporation, and provides consulting services staff coaching for nonprofit organizations. Healing Learning is developing an innovative smartphone and tablet app, based on the best psycho-therapeutic practices, which will help current and former self-manage the stresses in their lives.
