Apparently, Ariana Grande is so tired of talking about the moon landing that she doesn’t even care to set the record straight.
In a new Vanity Fair lie-detector test video published Tuesday, Grande revisited a controversial moment from the press tour for “Wicked” last year. She made headlines for the result on her lie detector test when asked by “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo if she thought the moon landing was fake. Grande said no, but a lie-detector test revealed that the answer was “inconclusive.” Grande also then asked Erivo, “Why aren’t there more videos?” of the moon landing.
Conspiracy theories about the 1969 moon landing have persisted for more than 50 years, according to the BBC.
Recalling how nervous she was in that video, the Grammy-winning singer said that she doesn’t give a “rat’s ass” about the moon; she’s “worried about Earth, goddamn it!”
“We’re burning alive. We’re killing each other. Can we worry about Earth for five minutes? Who gives a fuck about the moon and the flag?” she quipped.
For the “Wicked: For Good” press tour, Grande sat opposite co-star Bowen Yang for another lie detector test. And he continued to press her on whether she was skeptical about the 1969 moon landing — asking if she believed in the moon and if she believed a flag had been planted there.
“The last time you were in this hot seat, the machine was inconclusive on if you believed the moon landing was real or not. Would you like a chance to redeem yourself?” Yang asked jokingly.
“No, I want to move past it,” she replied.
When asked if she believes a flag was planted on the moon, she seemed uninterested in setting the record straight once and for all.
“I hear both arguments,” she said.
“You’re not helping your case,” Yang replied while laughing.
