Ready to accomplish big things this year? Author M.J. Ryan, of the Intent Learning Series, discusses the most important step in achieving your intentions -- getting started!

First of all, what is your intent? And be honest with yourself: do you really, really, really want this to happen? Your personal motivation for your intention has to be compelling enough so that you'll stick to it when things start getting a little rough. Even if you are not completely sure exactly how you are going to reach your ultimate destination, you better make sure that you are at least starting with an resilient inner core of motivation, passion and iron will!

After you’ve made a self-check of your own burning desire, make a list of all the intentions you want to achieve in 2009. And don’t just stop there: what are all the intentions you want to achieve within your lifetime? Prioritize all your long-term goals and short-term goals, and list them in order of importance. Once you have that out of the way, it’s time to dig even deeper: why do you want to do this?

M.J. warns readers that we all have a funny way of sabotaging our own goals when the “bunny brain” (as she calls it) starts sensing that something scary and unknown -- even if it’s a positive change -- is about to enter our daily, predictable life. How can you frame your intention in a way so that it seems more like an exciting adventure than a tedious chore?

On a final note, M.J. says to imagine your future, positive self already enjoying the joyful benefits of achieving your intention. If you haven’t practiced the Law of Attraction before, now is the time.

An intent can be anything you want to change or achieve in your life or in the world in which you live -- it can be personal, social, or global, or all three.
