77 Haitian refugees, including 17 children, are at a West Side homeless shelter Thursday, where they are resting and waiting for more permanent residences.

The refugees boarded a United Airlines flight in Haiti Wednesday night, and--for the first time since the quake--were given warm beds to sleep in at the Christian Industrial League, 2750 W. Roosevelt Rd., NBC Chicago reports.

The group was taken to the shelter by two CTA buses and firefighters assisted them, NBC reports.

After the refugees get some rest, various city, state and federal agencies will attempt to find them more permanent residences and offer them counseling.
