Rapper Ice Spice was just supposed to be Taylor Swift’s guest at Sunday’s Super Bowl, but her presence at the game inspired a very bizarre conspiracy theory.

That’s because some folks on social media saw the rapper making some hand gestures and wearing an inverted cross, also known as a St. Peter’s cross, and assumed she was doing something demonic.

Seriously.

Some people attempted to explain why Ice Spice isn’t satanic, and that the cross she was wearing ― the St. Peter’s cross ― is meant to be upside down.

HuffPost reached out to Ice Spice for comment, but no one immediately responded.

Still, many people pointed out that Ice Spice’s “satanic” hand gestures actually just looked like the classic “rock on” hand gesture (aka devil horns), and that she did it while music was playing.

Iconic heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio helped popularize the gesture, but said he learned it from his Italian family, who used it to ward off the “evil eye,” and that it had nothing to do with supporting Satan.

Some people noted that in their responses to the bizarre theory.

Others just engaged in mockery.

As silly as this particular conspiracy theory is, it could actually help the bond that Ice Spice has with Swift, who has also been accused of being in bed with the devil.

Last October, Kandiss Taylor, who ran a losing campaign to be governor of Georgia last year on a “Jesus Guns Babies” platform, claimed the singer was putting “some satanic nods” in her show and “celebrating witchcraft.”
