Newsweek editor Jon Meacham is in advanced talks to host a weekly show on PBS, Elizabeth Jensen reports for the New York Times.
Meacham and former NPR/MSNBC/MTV host Alison Stewart are expected to host "Need to Know," which Jensen describes as "a new PBS Friday night public affairs series."
The show will replace "Bill Moyers Journal" and "Now."
Meacham is a regular on MSNBC, appearing often on the network's "Morning Joe" to unveil the Newsweek cover. Stewart, whose husband Bill Wolff is an MSNBC executive and the executive producer of "The Rachel Maddow Show," is also an MSNBC regular; she has filled-in for Maddow on several occasions.
