A family of three was hit by a car yesterday while taking their 4-year-old daughter trick-or-treating in Colorado Springs.

Samuel Kinkennon, 30, and his wife Kelly, 31, were pulling their daughter in a wagon while crossing Academy Boulevard on their way to the child's grandparents' house when they were hit by 22-year-old Shynesia Harris. As of Monday evening, Harris had not been issued a ticket even though she allegedly hit them in the crosswalk, according to a report by the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Police say the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when it was still light out and in an area where the pedestrians have the right of way. Both parents were taken to Penrose Hospital with serious injuries, but were released Tuesday morning. Their injuries included a broken leg and head injury. Their daughter, who had been dressed as a princess for Halloween, suffered minor injuries.
