Mayan Theatre To Hold 80th Anniversary Party Tuesday Night

The historic Mayan Theatre on South Broadway will be hosting its 80th anniversary celebration on Tuesday night. The event will feature drink specials, a screening of The Wizard of Oz, a costume contest and live music by jazz/blues vocalist Jesse Garland.

The Mayan was constructed in 1930, and operated as a movie theater for several decades before shutting its doors for years. In the 1980's, Landmark Theaters took control if the building and reopened it as an art-film venue.

A limited number of tickets will be available for the event on Tuesday. Tickets will cost $.25, and will be free for people in costume.
