President Donald Trump didn’t hold back when Pete Hegseth fell short on the job, according to Defense Secretary Hegseth himself.
During a rapid-fire Q&A with Fox News’ Peter Doocy on Sunday, Hegseth was asked who last yelled at him.
“Last time I was in the Oval Office,” Hegseth replied, laughing at his admission.
“President Trump’s the boss. He sets the tone. If you don’t get it done, he’ll let you know about it. So, that’s probably it,” he added.
Hegseth didn’t elaborate on exactly what triggered the outburst from Trump.
But last month, the former Fox News personality stumbled over Trump’s new nickname for his department ― right in front of Trump ― by referring to it as “the DOD” before correcting himself to say “DOW, the Department of War,” prompting Trump to say he was “glad” of the correction.
In recent days, the former Fox News personality has body-shamed members of the military, drawn comparisons to North Korea from his own friends and been the subject of a mocking skit on “Saturday Night Live.”
